Georgia Juvenile Justice Data Clearinghouse

Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) serves as the administrator of federal juvenile justice funds for the state and it’s responsible for ensuring that accurate juvenile crime data is collected and reported to the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) and the Georgia General Assembly. CJCC collects and reports racial and ethnic disparity data as a part of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Act. The Equity and Justice for All Youth (EJAY) Subcommittee under the Juvenile Justice State Advisory Group monitors racial and ethnic disparities (R/ED) for youth who come into contact with the juvenile justice system. More information regarding EJAY Subcommittee can be found here. Additional information on all CJCC juvenile justice related projects can be accessed here.

Working with partner state agencies, CJCC collects and analyzes this important information. However, this would not be possible without the support of our data partners:

Council of Juvenile Judges

Department of Juvenile Justice

Georgia Bureau of Investigation

Juvenile Data Exchange

Public access to this aggregate data is allowed under Georgia’s Open Records Act.

Juvenile Data Exchange

Since it’s inception, the Juvenile Data Exchange (JDEX) Committee, previously known as the Juvenile Data Integrity Group, has operated on the following agreements:

  1. Agree that data needs to drive our decision-making

  2. Agree on the collective need for our state to move from current situation to a renewed focus on outcomes for Georgia’s juvenile justice system

  3. Agree we cannot move to a focus on outcomes without coming to agreement about where we are as a state (thus the need for good, agreed-upon data)

All this work has been focused on a long-term goal for Georgia: Developing system-wide agreement on juvenile justice outcomes.  In early 2015, the JDEX Committee began working together with committed partners from the Governor’s Office, the Council of Juvenile Court Judges, the Administrative Office of the Courts, and the Department of Juvenile Justice to create a statewide data repository of juvenile justice data. More information regarding the JDEX project can be accessed here.
